Matius 10:15

10:15 I tell you the truth, ¹  it will be more bearable for the region of Sodom and Gomorrah ²  on the day of judgment than for that town!

23:15 “Woe to you, experts in the law ³  and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You cross land and sea to make one convert, ⁴  and when you get one, ⁵  you make him twice as much a child of hell ⁶  as yourselves!

[10:15]  ² sn The allusion to Sodom and Gomorrah, the most wicked of OT cities from Gen 19:1-29, shows that to reject the current message is even more serious than the worst sins of the old era and will result in more severe punishment.

[23:15]  ⁵ tn Grk “when he becomes [one].”

[23:15]  ⁶ tn Grk “a son of Gehenna.” Expressions constructed with υἱός (Juios) followed by a genitive of class or kind denote a person belonging to the class or kind specified by the following genitive (L&N 9.4). Thus the phrase here means “a person who belongs to hell.”
